I build and fix sites: PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, working inside an existing theme or writing one from scratch when the brief doesn't fit anything off the shelf. When a site is slow, I check plugin bloat, unoptimised images and database queries before touching the code.
I've worked with small businesses opening their first store and teams maintaining sites with years of accumulated plugins. The job is the same either way: make it fast, keep it editable, leave it sturdier than I found it.
